Have you ever fancied getting a true taste of Cuba without having to leave the country? What if I was to tell you that you could do just that? Right on your doorstep. Are you a foodie looking to try a new menu that’s bursting with bold flavours and exotic ingredients that’ll fill your belly’s with joy, and tickle those hungry taste buds? I think I may have found just that.
Revolucion De Cuba, ever heard of it? Well I’m here to tell you all about it. This new restaurant brings exciting and trendy vibes to fill the heart of Southampton and introduce us into the world of Caribbean Soul. I was super lucky to have the opportunity to explore what was on offer. Oh, mother hen joined in with the fun too.
First things first, the staff were super welcoming and friendly. I noticed the restaurant was already filled with different groups of people from cocktail catch ups to a romantic meal for two – It shows there is something for everyone.
What’s a party without a cocktail? I went for my beloved Aperol Spritz, the typical blogger drink, right? I remember seeing every other person with this bright orange drink and since trying it, Im hooked. Mother hen went for a Pina Colada, like our Flamingo friend? I thought it was a cute touch – tropical island beach hut vibes going on here for sure. Don’t you think?
The best part of the evening arrived. FOOD. Eeeee, there was just too much to choose from, we were spoilt for choice. We decided to share 6 tapas. I love how that way we could try a bunch of different dishes and really explore Cuba. We chose – Smoky Chicken Skewers, Cheeseburger Tacos, Albondigas (Meatballs), Chicken Quesadilla, and my two favourites of the evening were the Nachos and Patatas Bravas. One word – Yum. Hand on heart I can not fault a single thing. Each dish was scrumptious and jam packed with flavour. I never knew fried mini potatoes with a spicy tomato and garlic sauce could be so scrumptious. Can I place an order for home delivery please?
Ps, if you fancy sinking your teeth into a juice burger, a sunshine salad or something fishy, there’s much more up for grabs too!
Did I hear you say dessert? You betcha we had dessert. When there’s chocolate brownie and mango and passion fruit cheesecake on the menu, how could we not? OH boy did these hit the spot. When I think of brownies, I think of a ooey-gooey, squidgy, yummy, scrummy brownie that bursts with chocolatey goodness. And that’s what we got. And the cheesecake, gosh, smooth and rich, bursting with exotic fruity flavours that melts in your mouth. Heaven.
After gaining a few pounds, it was time for (drum roll) another cocktail. We were recommended the favourite – Zombie. ‘A very mysterious Zombie Mix with tropical juices, lime, sugar and added fire’ Added fire – You can say that again. If you fancy something strong and fruity, thank me later. I see why it’s the favourite!
Revolucion De Cuba has definitely hit the ground running since opening its doors. With its tropical cocktails, scrummy dishes, and it’s salsa party inspired music which will inspire you to dance the night away. It’s sure to promise you one hell of a fiesta journey.
So, what do you think?
