Seaside in the Square – Southampton

Seaside in the Square – Southampton

Squishy beanbags, cocktails, live bands, beach huts, and sand between your toes…. Sounds like a vibe, doesn’t it? Would you believe me if I told you that Southampton now has its very own beach? Well, there’s no fibs here!

Who do we need to thank? Well, that’s GO! Southampton. A non-profit organisation funded by local business who’s aim is to improve the city and bring the community together. What better way to do it ey!?

We’re all being treated to 34 days of FREE activities ranging from yoga (every Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 9am) Sand castle competitions (Tuesdays) Outdoor Cinema (Wednesdays) Beach Volleyball (Monday’s) and so much more. Something for the whole family! There’s even a NANDOS takeover on the 11th August. Sounds tempting, doesn’t it?

Sunnies on, flip flops on, it was time to head to the beach with a bunch of lovely Soton Bloggers to be the first ones taking a peak of all the excitement before the press evening later on. AND can we take a moment to appreciate these Aperol Spritz bean bags? How cosy do they look. Paired up with the real thing (the cocktail) and I’m sorted. Why would you want to leave?

Throughout the afternoon I kept thinking, am I in Ibiza or Southampton????

Orange Rooms are the main bar hosts which is fabuuuuuuuulous. From beers and cocktails, to sipping out of a pineapple, they’ve got you covered! A few of the bloggers got the chance to create their own cocktails too which was fun. There’s nothing like a good old cocktail masterclass is there?

I’ll admit throughout the afternoon I had more than one Aperol Spritz….. keeping hydrated and all that.

What’s a beach without a beach hut? You can find these beautifully decorated huts and lounge area (by ikea) whilst you’re there too. There’s a lot of bright, funky colours going on which I’m totally loving!

So if you fancy dancing the night away to some live music, working on that tan with a cocktail in hand, or if you’re simply stuck on what to do with the kids for the next few weeks during the summer holidays, get yourself down to The Guildhall Square (which isn’t so plainly white anymore) for a fab day AT THE BEACH. Also be sure to check out the giant deckchair trial too. There’s 14 of them to find. Make sure you answer the questions to be in for a chance of winning some lovely prizes!

Southampton has finally got its place on the map that’s for sure!

I know where I will be spending my summer, what about you?

Tay x
